Conservatory Choir


Conservatory Choir is an intermediate/advanced level learning and performance ensemble for elementary vocal students. It is a WCEP program hosted at the Santa Monica Conservatory and all current K-5th grade students are invited to immediately pre- register to reserve their spots.

Registration/Orientation is Saturday, Sept. 19 at 4pm

Weekly Rehearsals: Saturdays, 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

Members will learn exciting pieces and develop music skills such as singing technique, sight reading, rhythmic development, music theory and harmony, all learned and applied to a variety of choral works. They will also develop social skills within a structured musical environment. Parents can expect rewarding growth and ever increasing appreciation of music. Our staff will prepare students for middle school performance levels and help them realize their maximum potential as young musicians.

Students take part in 25 rehearsals on Saturdays, and at least two concerts during the season, mid-September to mid-May. Students and their families will also be invited to attend a season opener BBQ pool party.

Registration/Orientation is Saturday, Sept. 19
Registration starts at 4pm at the Santa Monica Conservatory of music and will be followed by orientation for parents and students.

Students should be prepared to show their vocal abilites for placement in the intermediate/advanced group. Junior Choir is open for students with no previous singing experience.

Weekly Rehearsals: Saturdays, 4:00– 6:00 pm. Mid-September to Mid-May 2016.
First rehearsal is Friday September 25, 2015.

To participate, students should pre-register and pay a $600 tuition fee.  This fee is reduced to $450 for students taking private lessons at the conservatory.

Meowset Abbett Santa-Monica choir A native of Bangkok, Thailand, Meowset Abbett is a graduate of the University of Washington. Abbett earned her degrees in Vocal Performance and Communication, specializing in classical, musical theatre, and jazz. A singer, actress, dancer, pianist and composer, Abbett finds joy in performing professionally as well as teaching. Abbett is a first prize winner of Washington’s State Solo and Ensemble vocal competition, as well as the Tahoma and Puget Sound NATS competition. Abbett has performed and starred in numerous operas and musicals, including Hansel and Gretel, Albert Herring, The King and I, and Beauty and the Beast. Abbett is delighted to be a part of the teaching team at WCEP!
